About Us

We have been in operation since 1993, first under the name Tradesman Heating and Air Conditioning Services and more recently as Manual J Design Studio. Our focus is to provide detailed, accurate Manual J, D and S reports to homeowners, builders, architects and HVAC professionals, and we also provide training to HVAC contractors.

We have performed thousands of load calculations both for new homes and existing homes.

We frequently work with homeowners to help them navigate the difficulties of getting a reliable, energy efficient climate control system designed, installed, tested and tuned for their new home or existing home.

Paul is a licensed HVAC contractor, an experienced field technician and an HVAC installer, supervisor, estimator and system designer.

With 30+ years in the industry, he has performed thousands of Manual J, D and S calculations.

In addition, Paul is a well-respected teacher in the heating and cooling industry and has taught and developed courses and curriculum for licensed HVAC professionals.

His courses have been attended by thousands of HVAC professionals and cover the basics of Manual J heat load calculations, equipment selection, duct design and diagnosis of system performance.

Chris Wieboldt

HVAC System designer

Chris is a licensed HVAC contractor in Texas and Idaho, with more than 30 years of experience in the heating and cooling industry.

He is NBI certified in residential and light commercial air balancing and has extensive experience with geothermal and conventional systems.

Chris has been working with his father, Paul for over 25 years, performing load calculations, designing high performance HVAC systems and assisting homeowners and contractors to resolve challenging comfort problems.
